Formulary Signal is a public-data monitoring service for FDA drug shortage records. It helps pharmacy, healthcare operations, procurement, and supply-chain teams track changes in public FDA shortage data without manually checking FDA pages, bookmarks, or spreadsheets.

Users create watchlists for drug names or shortage terms. Formulary Signal checks public FDA/openFDA shortage records on a scheduled basis and sends timestamped signal cards when matching public records change. Signal cards can include public-source context that makes a change easier to verify and triage internally without providing clinical, substitution, inventory, procurement, or legal advice.

## Methodology

Data sources: Formulary Signal monitors public FDA/openFDA shortage data and can attach related public context from FDA RSS, RxNorm, openFDA NDC Directory, DailyMed, and ASHP link-only references where available. It is not affiliated with the FDA.

Monitoring: Records are checked on a scheduled basis. Alerts are generated when matching watchlist terms appear, change, or resolve, depending on the configured alert behavior.

Source context: Alerts include timestamp, match type, source count, public-record links, and source context so customers can verify against official public sources.

Signal card fields may include:
- watch term
- matched public record

- FDA RSS match if present
- RxNorm-normalized names if available
- openFDA NDC labeler, dosage form, route, marketing category, product count, and package count if available

## Pricing summary

Watchlist: $49 per month. Up to 25 watch terms, email report delivery, source context for verification.

Webhook: $199 per month. Up to 100 watch terms, webhook delivery, JSON payload delivery.

Integration: $499 per month. Up to 250 watch terms, up to 10 report recipients, customer-owned webhook routing.

Billing is subscription-based and renews monthly until canceled. Stripe handles payment processing.

## Output and access

Email alerts are the core v0 output. Webhook delivery is available on Webhook and Integration plans when configured. A general self-serve API or recurring CSV delivery is not part of v0.
